Hi everyone! Today I'd like to show you a slightly different part of Fish & Chill. A fish isn't the only thing you can pull from the water.
What the sea is hiding
I've added collectible items and unusual finds to the game. Some are quite ordinary, while others seem to have a story behind them. I like the idea of a quiet fishing session occasionally turning up something you weren't expecting.
It might be a message bottle washed towards the shore, or a little pebble that glows faintly in the dark. Sometimes it's just a rusty spoon. That belonged to someone too, although I imagine they've found another one to eat with by now.
I don't want every find to be a huge treasure. I think the small things help the sea feel more alive as well. With the next bite, you can wonder about more than the size of the fish: what else might be waiting at the end of the line?
Achievements are in the works too
I'm also working on achievements for the full game. They won't be available in the demo.
I want them to reward natural progress: your first catches, discovering species, better equipment and longer-term goals. I'm not planning a huge list of nearly identical tasks just to make the number bigger. I'd rather have a smaller set where each completed goal means something.
I'm still working out the conditions, so I'll share more about the actual list later. For now, my main focus is making the game pleasant to play and giving you things to discover.
If Fish & Chill looks like your kind of game, adding it to your Steam wishlist would mean a lot.
See you at sea!
